Pilot wing information:
less than 3 colors - order of 20 wings for $25 a piece - order of 50 wings for $19 a piece
more than 3 colors - order of 20 wings for $33 a piece - order of 50 wings for $25 a piece
I think if we go with our currrent logo we will get away with the less than three color price.
The above are a few samples of the different wings they have. For more samples check out: http://www.greatwings.com/

Ice Pilots YRT, NU
Not sure the best way to post these pictures, but here goes nothing.

This was taken this month in Rankin Inlet, NU (YRT). I was taxiing in and saw the DC-3.
The camera crew were out shooting for season 2. I believe they were on there way to Stoney Rapids next.
They let me take a peek inside.

Some of the ground crew that were traveling with the plane.
The only one I recognize is the girl. She was featured in one of the early episodes as one of the new 'rampies' at Buffalo.

Hi YFC members and thanks to Blake for the nice blog site! I’ll try to contribute
something that may be of use to our members.
When we had an air radio operator on duty at the terminal building, they
turned on the runway lights when asked to do so. When the operators were phased out,
Transport installed an Arcal system. Which stands for Aircraft Radio Control of Aerodrome Lighting. We had mode J in Yorkton, which specifies 5 mic clicks within 5 seconds activated all the Airport lighting for a period of 15 minutes. Clicking the PTT
5 times when the lights were already on would restart the 15 minute timer.
We recently upgraded the control system to mode K. The sequence is, 3 clicks
turn on the runway lights to low (10%). 5 clicks to med (30%). 7 clicks to hi (100%). This is all within a 5 second window. Once the lights are on, they can be turned up or down by re-entering 3, 5, or 7 clicks. The 15 minute timer is restarted after each sequnce is entered.
The taxi lights are fixed at 30% and the approach and end of runway
lights are all fixed at 100% regardless of what the runway lights are set to. Do
some night flying and check it out!
At our last meeting, the question was asked “what can the club do to improve
the airport”? With that in mind, maybe we could look at installing a papi (Precision Approach Path Indicator)?

Stalls
Since we are on the subject of stalls. I would like everyone to think about this:
-in a slip which wing stalls first?
-in a skid which wing stalls first?
-in a coordinated desending turn which wing stalls first?
-in a coordinated climbing turn which wing stalls first?
Answers to follow next month unless someone has done thier homework!
I will be checking.

Power + Pitch = Stall (?)
Great to see people using the site! Awesome place to check in and see what is happening. Was browsing other flying sites with some spare time and came across an interesting article for pilots and flight students out there. Read it if you have time and see what you think. http://www.megginson.com/blogs/lahso/2005/04/04/power-pitch-stall/
The article has a focus on training but I found it a good thinking exercise. Being a member of the Yorkton Flying Club and visiting with other pilots has increased my desire to review flying articles.
Great pictures added to the slideshow! I look forward to seeing more pics and videos.

Government of Saskatchewan congratulations!!
On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan and Premier Brad Wall, congratulations on the newfound activity and enthusiasm of the Yorkton Flying Club!
Thank you to all for stepping up to help preserve and further flying in Yorkton and the Province.
The Yorkton Flying Club has a long and important history in aviation, as do it's long term members, and lifelong pioneers, such as the Ingham family.
Aviation is an important part of our Province's history, and I believe will be for long into the future!
